Sep, Oct & Nov 2004 - Catania
(Italy), Newcastle (England) & Belfast (N.Ireland)
After the wedding and a few months rest in Catania,
Sicily, it was time to move on to the green pastures
of England. A final photograph below, from the balcony
of Valeria's mothers house.

The 4th September is a date I dare not forget. Valeria's
birthday. Below, 2 weeks before leaving Italy, we went
to a very small village on the coast of Sicily called
Costa Saracena. With Valeria's family we celebrated
with an Italian fish based barbecue. Below left her
uncle, Nino, is concentrating as he delicately barbecues
the fresh fish. In the picture below right, are from
the left: Valeria, her cousin Gabriella, her auntie
Silvia and Valeria's mother. Don't worry Valeria.Forty
will reach you in no time.
Before flying to England, at the end
of September, we stopped off in Rome for a few days. It
is my favorite city in Italy, with a very good atmosphere
in the city centre with its small streets full of bars
and restaurants and tourists enchanted by the beauty of
Rome's architecture. In the picture below on the left,
we are on the terrace of Palazzo Braschi, a museum in
Piazza Navona where Valeria's friend Katia (on the right
in the picture)works. From there you can see a big portion
of Rome's historical center and you can enjoy a great
view of Piazza Navona. On the right there is a picture
of the world famous Fontana di Trevi, where millions of
tourist from around the world throw tons of coins. They
say that if you throw a coin into the fountain you will
go back to Rome one day. A clever invention of the Italians
to make more money?
Shortly after arriving in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne,
England where we are now living, we visited Belfast, Northern
Ireland for a friends wedding. Below left, a picture of
Valeria and our English friend Hannah, who we knew in
Dublin. On the right I (Paul) left standing with two drinks,
while Valeria took the picture from above. Beside me are
Hannah and our Irish friend Ciaran, a guy who could teach
the River Dance group a step or two when he's had a few
beers.
And at last, a picture of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne where
we are presently living. Below are two pictures of Newcastle
city centre. The theatre on Grey Street is shown on
the left, and a Christmas view of the square called
The Monument on the right. At this time I am studying
a Masters in Sunderland University and Valeria is working
for an Italian Call Centre. More about England in the
next monthly.
Last but not least a surprise picture
we took, but it's not what you think.
