June to August
2007 - The move from Barcelona back to England &
Torquay visit
June and July were the last months we spent in Barcelona,
during which we made the most of it with visits to the
beach and to some of the tourist attractions. One of
these trips included the famous Montserrat. Montserrat
is famous for its Benedictine monastery (which sits
at 700m high up) and for its black Madonna, called the
Virgin of Montserrat. The name Montserrat (shortened
Montse).

The time we went to Montserrat coincided
with the time when a friend of ours, Fandy, came to Barcelona
for a week for a course. Fandy is Colombian and she lives
in Seoul, South Korea, where she teaches Spanish. She
used to be Valeria’s Spanish teacher in Seoul.
You can see a picture of Fandy on the left, while we
were in the cable car. On the right, another photo of
the Montserrat monastery.
Below on the left Valeria and me at Montserrat,
and on the right, out for end of season football awards
dinner, with my 11-a-side team mates (including Swedish
Mikael who looks real serious and a little like the guy
from Abba all those years ago). In Barcelona we played
in the BIFL (Barcelona International Football League).
In Barcelona we visited many of the unusual creations
by architect Gaudì. On the left the roof of
La Pedrera, a building whose curves were designed
to represent the waves of the Mediterranean Sea.
On the right, myself (Paul) in the VIP section during
the Spanish MotoGP racing Grand Prix, courtesy of
one of my work bosses.
In Barcelona, Valeria kept attending her belly dance classes
and she ended up performing three times in theatres. Below
you can see Valeria with her dance mates, just before one
of the performances.
Some more photos of Torquay, on the English
Riveria!
And finally, a picture of me (Paul) with my
new (first car I have ever owned).
