January - April 2010 - (Prague and what we're up to in the UK)

In March 2010 we finally managed to visit Prague (after our January flight was cancelled because of the snow). Prague is a decent enough city, with some interesting things to see, good beer and an easy to use public transportation system. An interesting attraction to visit, for art enthusiastic is the Museum of Modern & Contemporary Arte. In the photo below Paul is standing inside one of the sculptures on the top floor of the gallery, in the Czech art section. On the right Valeria with a map, while we try and find the gallery (no easy task).

During our trip to Prague we saw a lot of art, including a Dalì exhibition at White Unicorn in Old Town Square. The painting which impressed us the most was one called "Gala Nude Looking at the Sea' Which at 18 Metres Appears to show President Lincoln." If you look at this painting close up, then the picture appears different and involves a naked woman (Gala) looking at the sea. Step backwards and you see President Lincoln’s face again. Below see the painting from 3 different distances.

While in Prague we also visited Prague Castle and this happened to be one of the very few times it is possible to see the Union Jack flag flying in Prague castle (as shown below right). The visit of the Prince of Darkness himself (Prince Charles), hence the flying for a few hours of the UK flag. It was not long before a curious crowd gathered around that area, cameras at hand, waiting for Prince Charles’ appearance (us included, I am ashamed to say).

In addition to Prague, in April 2010 we have also been to Lagos, in Portugal, and to Catania, Sicily. Unfortunately we have lost the pictures we took in those places as the computer in which they were transferred crashed for good, before we had a chance to make some copies. While in Sicily Valeria met some of her high school mates, after 20 years since she last saw them.

What else have we been up to during the first four months in 2010? Valeria kept teaching belly dance and updating her website http://www.worldbellydance.com/, of which you can see a print screen on the left. I have been creating a lot of new sites such as Barcelona-culture.com http://www.barcelona-culture.com/ (on the right below).
